Biography —
Kay Cypret is the program coordinator for the Center for Online & Distance Learning, focusing on accessibility in academia. She is an educator, scholar, dissertation editor, musician, and contemporary classical composer with a Doctor of Arts in Music Composition from the University of Northern Colorado, a Master of Music from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and a bachelor's degree in music from Missouri Southern State University.
Kay has composed numerous works for chamber and large ensembles, collaborating with organizations such as the Atlantic Music Festival and Missouri New Music Initiative, as well as soloists like flutist Camden Sidenstricker and clarinetist Dr. Cheryl Cifelli-Cotter. Her current plans include enhancing accessibility, challenging academic trends through research, and creating a diverse portfolio of compositions that push musical boundaries.
