Biography

Rebecca Nkhata started her undergraduate career at the University of Oklahoma (OU) as a pre-med student with plans to pursue physical therapy. Toward the end of her pre-med coursework, she was drawn to the social sciences and ultimately graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Multidisciplinary Studies (with an emphasis in Social Sciences) in 2016. This degree included courses in psychology, sociology, history, economics, and African-American Studies. The diversity in her undergraduate coursework helped her develop a holistic approach to understanding human behaviors and interactions.

Her work as an undergraduate teaching assistant in psychology courses and as a substitute teacher for Norman Public Schools prompted her to pursue a career in Educational Psychology. She graduated from OU with a Master of Education in Instructional Psychology and Technology in 2019. While in graduate school, she worked as a Graduate Assistant at the OU Office of Digital Learning; assisting faculty with developing instruction and multimedia for their online courses.

After graduation, she worked as an Instructional Designer for the Spears School of Business at Oklahoma State University, where she coached faculty on best practices in online teaching and helped them create pedagogically sound online courses. Rebecca enjoys walks in the woods with her dog, music, dancing, learning languages, and exploring tea customs.
